iTunes phone out next month
The eagerly-awaited iTunes phone will be premiered next month at the V Festival in Hylands Park, Staffordshire, according to industry reports.
The two-day, four-stage musical event is one of the biggest in the festival calender and will be sponsored by Virgin Mobile - which has been flagged as one of the first mobile networks to offer the phone.
Citing a report from leading American technology analyst, Albert Lin, thestreet.com reports that “the iPod-inspired music phone – which Motorola pulled twice from introductions earlier this year, apparently under orders from Apple chief Steve Jobs – will debut in the UK next month.”
However, a Virgin Mobile representative denied the reports saying “there is no confirmation of when this phone will be launched” and Motorola press officers declined to comment.
But during Motorola’s analyst day presentations this week, CEO Ed Zander confirmed that the iTunes phone would be availble by the end of this quarter.
Virgin Mobile’s four million UK subscribers will have first access to the Motorola GSM iTune’s phone, dubbed the Rokr.
