Halfords introduces iPod car sound system
Halfords has added Sony’s iPod-compatible car sound system to its product range.
The Sony CDX-GT300 Si comes complete with a lead for connecting it to the iPod.
The system has seven preset tone curves, in-built capability to compress digital music files and a front panel auxiliary input, according to MacWorld.
Sound quality is ensured with two sets of preamp outputs - rear ones that can be put into subwoofer mode, which drive up to four 50W speakers.
There is also an AM/FM radio tuner, and the whole system is priced at £199.99.
Telematics Research Group (TRG) recently predicted that 73 million cars worldwide would be hooked up to iPods by 2011.
The decision to sell the Sony CDX-GT300 Si is therefore part of the retail chain’s longer-term vision.
