iPod icon can’t afford one
She has come to symbolise the defining cultural product of the new millennium, but Mandy Coulton still can’t afford an iPod.
Ms Coulton was the dancer whose bikini-clad silhouette helped Apple shift millions of iPods, but in a recent interview with the New York Post, she admitted she still can’t afford to buy one.
The Los-Angeles based part-time model and dancer said she was paid $1,500 (£836) to pose for the advertising campaign.
“At the time, $1,500 seemed like a lot of money. But now my picture is everywhere,” she told the New York Post.
“I would like one – but $400 (£220) for an iPod is just too much for me.
“I can’t justify spending that much money when I have day-to-day stuff to pay for, like the car and the rent.”
She is currently working part-time as a nanny while she waits to hit the big time.
