iPods may soon feature satellite radio
Sirius Satellite Radio CEO Mel Karmazin has been in talks with Apple CEO Steve Jobs about the possibility of featuring satellite radio on iPods.
Mr Karmazin told business news provider MarketWatch that he recently had dinner with Mr Jobs and other digital entertainment executives.
He explained that while it is easy to integrate satellite radio on an MP3 player, the problem lies in how much of Sirius’ $12.95 monthly fee would be split with a manufacturer.
But Mr Karmazin was stoic about the possibility of a partnership: “If we don’t do a deal, our current business plan is just fine.”
Satellite radio, like the US companies XM or Sirius, is yet to appear in Europe.
